Paris DT for Imagination Crafts: vase and shopper

My final Design Team samples for Imagination Crafts for the Paris themed show: an upcycled vase and a shopper.

The vase was a monster: white china, with a really nasty print (but it's a great shape, see the swirls) which covered really easily. I used Starlights paint in Antique Rose, fading into Mediterranean Sky and then into Sky Blue (at the bottom).

The best way to apply this is direct onto a grease-free item, whether china, glass etc, and pounce (dab) on with a sponge. Any old sponge will do, I used a piece of washing-up sponge. This only needed two coats for complete coverage (even over that awful print).
Next step was Style Stones in all three sizes, small, medium and large. First, a heavy coat of Transparent Relief Paste, then the large stones sprinkled on, followed by the medium stones. Finally, any gaps were filled in with the small stones, which are really tiny. I also threw in some glitter for a little sparkle.
I decoupaged some roses cut out of rice paper using Decoupage Plus (first gluing onto text weight paper, then fussy cutting so the roses didn't fade into the blue) and placed them between the swirls.
The final touch was more Decoupage Plus applied with a fine brush, pushed into the stones to make sure they didn't ping off!

Shopper
Another recycled project - a boring dark grey shopping bag with a vertical stripe and a logo - perfect for covering up with the rose stencil.
I stencilled the roses first, allowed to dry and then added a couple more roses, allowed to dry and then added the stencilled lace. I worked from the roses outwards, and allowed to dry before I added a little more lace to the top and bottom edges (the lace pattern extends beautifully). I used a stencil brush with gesso for all of this.
Once dry, the roses neede a little colour, so I placed the stencil back and worked in a tiny amount of Shabby Chic Paste in Ashy Rose and Sage, using a dry brush.
Finishing touch - part of the lace stencil design worked all down the handles (sponge and gesso).
